The freshly founded Sports on the Move Foundation wants to create a supportive environment to enable para-athletes to compete at the highest international levels and to give them a perspective for life after sport. This will not only enrich the life of the individual athlete but of the entire community. The foundation is fundraising for a “Rio2Tokyo” programme to support a group of Namibian athletes towards the next Paralympic Games of Tokyo 2020 and beyond. The programme is set up as a 3-year career path with training sessions, international competitions and capacity building for a life after sport. The foundation has developed from a fundraising campaign. “Run4Rio” was initiated by Ananias Shikongo in the preparation phase of the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016. Although limited in resources, it provided critical support when hardly any other support was available. As such it is believed to have had an extraordinary impact on the athletes'​ performance and achievements in Rio. The programme is meant for elite athletes with no or limited access to basic sport requirements like nutrition and equipment. It should enable the athletes to regularly participate in training and competitions. It will include:  Training (coach, facilities)  Equipment (shoes, clothes)  Nutrition (daily food, drinks, supplements)  Transport (to training, accommodation and competitions)  Health Care (insurance, sport specific treatments)
