The center uses interdisciplinary approaches to create access to informationin history, heritage, arts, built environment and urban space. Our vision is to create a knowledge base from which each African can empower themselves to project a greater future for themselves and their communities. Owing to the historical context in Namibia, knowledge remains fragmented erased and exclusive to traditional avenues and institutions. In our various disciplines we have seen that Africans seldom own their information or access channels to transmit their own narratives. We believe that research and increasing access to information plays a critical role in reducing the knowledge gap and facilitating processes where people may design their own lives. It is our aspiration to use our knowledge base and expertise as a vehicle to deconstruct silos of information that could lead to greater collaboration and productivity. Our mission is to create quality research that supports and develops various sectors. We want to establish platforms and a practice of engagement through an interdisciplinary praxis for problem solving and invention. Our envisioned outputs include ongoing social and market research, ARK ONLINE and interactive spaces such as the ARK center and ARK gateways.
